Lewis Jackson very graciously delivered this article to The Cooper's Inn as a memento from his archives. It shares the story of The George Gracie House as it transitioned to an Inn. It was featured in Atlantic Insight Magazine in September 1989.
Above you see an artist's vision of the Inn; a c1900 view with the dormers in place (pictured left of the 2 masted schooner); and later versions without the dormers; followed by a current view with the restored dormers. The widow's walk was taken off during a recent roof replacement project and will be replaced at a later date.
The dormer replacement took place c1995 and resulted in a spacious, architecturally designed 3rd level apartment. The Inn became a Provincially/Nationally Registered Historic Property after the project was completed.
Since the Hynes the Redmonds, Dewars and currently Pat and David Chute own the Inn.
