After their first visit to Shelburne in 2001. Pat & Paul Dewar knew they had found a community they would love to live in. After many more visits they made leap and purchased The Cooper’s Inn in 2005. Not new to inn-keeping. they saw tremendous potential with the Inn and an enticing lifestyle in the town.

Paul Is a former Math teacher at St. Lawrence College in Brockville. In 1985 after 15 years of teaching, he decided to buy a motel Not exactly the logical thinking you would expect from a Masters in Math! A few years later Paul met Pat. She was a travel agent and he was looking for a flight. Before she knew it, Pat was taking reservations Instead of making reservations. But it was a match made in heaven none the less.

Over the years they have built a successful business known as Dewar's Inn on the River in Prescott, Ontario. Their wonderful staff has allowed them the opportunity to spend six months a year in Shelburne operating  The Cooper's Inn.
.... and Ghost. you say? Yes. we have at least one.. You will know her when you see her. She is a tall thin apparition who loves things neat and tidy. Sometimes she has a towel draped ever her arm. Many guests have repeated this to us, but alas, we have not had the pleasure of meeting her. We have it on good authority though, that she is a friendly spirit and not one to be afraid of.
